Our Story

Pickleball is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re gonna get!

One moment, you’re trading gentle dinks around the kitchen.

The next, your opponent might smash a ball straight at your face!

In 2020, our co-founder Ming stepped beyond his tennis roots into pickleball, competing for one of Singapore’s top club teams.

During that time, five of his teammates were hit in the eye — and one even suffered a torn retina that required a $10,000 surgery.

Determined to make the game safer, Ming drew on his eyewear expertise (he had previously founded Rocket Eyewear) and partnered with his best friend Zenos to create sporty safety glasses for serious pickleball players.

Their vision was simple: glasses that not only protect your eyes, but also help you play better!

Bestia glasses check every box: they’re shatterproof, lightweight and anti-fog, with adjustable grippy temple tips for all-day comfort.

Our frames also feature an interchangeable lens system, so you can swap clear lenses for indoor play with tinted ones for sunny conditions.

Ming and Zenos chose the name Bestia because it sounds like ''best' while secretly meaning 'beast' in Spanish.

With Bestia, you get the best in eye protection, so you can play like a beast on the pickleball court!

Two best friends walk onto a pickleball court…

Ming was born in Singapore, studied at Harvard, and — like many of his peers — ended up doing something completely unrelated to his major.

In 2017, he founded Rocket Eyewear and grew it into Singapore’s largest online sunglasses brand.

Zenos grew up on the tennis courts of Seattle, where his father was the local country club pro.

Before long, he traded rackets for keyboards, spending seven years as a software developer at Microsoft.

In 2020, he built an app that has since become the world’s leading connector between prescription lens labs and eyewear stores.

Together, Ming and Zenos founded Bestia, channelling their eyewear experience into their favorite pastime: pickleball.
